About This Blog

Human resource (HR) management in local government is a complex and challenging task. Whether you are an HR director or a local government manager wearing the HR hat, you are responsible for motivating employees, paying them fairly, evaluating their performance, correcting undesirable behavior and creating a positive workforce climate. And did I mention doing all this amidst tightening budgets, expanding service expectations and challenging economic and political times?

For these reasons, this blog is intended to create a forum for discussing human capital issues in local government. We’ll address practical matters and big ideas, along with relevant social science research and the experiences of NC practitioners.  Guest bloggers are welcome, as are ideas for blog topics of interest to you.
